Blair Moody

Forester, Ashland Resource Area, Medford District, BLM

Blair received his Bachelor's of Science in Forest Management from Northern Arizona University in 1975. He worked for Southwest Forest Industries and its subsequent companies for 22 years. As Timber and Logging Manager, his work experiences include direct responsibility for the procurement of pulpwood, utility poles, sawlogs, and veneer logs for various mills within those companies in Arizona and Oregon.

Blair is currently employed with the Medford District of the Bureau of Land Management where he is a Forester with the Ashland resource area. Blair was hired specifically because of his industry background to explore and develop opportunities for the vast amount of small diameter timber on the resource area. Blair has helped to develop the BLM Stewardship Contracting Projects and implemented one of the first of two Stewardship Contracting Projectss for the BLM. He continues to research utilization possibilities for small diameter timber and biomass in southern Oregon.

Blair is a Certified Forester and a past State Chair of the Oregon Society of American Foresters, as well as past chair of the Siskiyou Chapter, Medford Oregon, and the San Francisco Peaks Chapter, Flagstaff, Arizona.

In the community, Blair served two years as the President of Southern Oregon University's Regional Advisory Board, and also serves on the University's Foundation Board of Trustees, and Arboretum Committee. He served six years on the Board of Directors for United Way of Jackson County and two years as their President. In the recreation arena, Blair served two years as President of the Board of Directors for one of the few not for profit ski areas in the country, the Mt. Ashland Ski and Snowboard Resort.
