Woody Biomass Products

Woody biomass can be used for a variety of purposes. This page focuses on the use of woody biomass to create products such as small wood items, cabinetry, erosion-control materials and mulch.

The higher the value of the product (e.g., veneer, cabinets, or specialty high-end products), the more the producer may be willing to pay for the raw biomass, or the further it can economically be hauled. Burning biomass for energy is usually the lowest value of biomass. Adding value to the product for the end-user can substantially increase the initial price a processor may be willing to pay for biomass.
