Tennessee - Stewardship Contracting Projects

Forest Service

  • Wolf Creek Stewardship Project (aka Nolichucky-Unaka Stewardship), Cherokee National Forest
The Nolichucky-Unaka Stewardship Project is designed to create a high-elevation, early successional habitat for neo-tropical birds. The project will attempt to create old-field, early successional habitat by clearing plots and allowing the land to recover naturally. Subsequent restorative activities will be funded through the sale of timber (exchange of goods for services). The estimated acres to be treated are approximately 1,500.

Bureau of Land Management
