  • Winds - 16 - 26 mph
  • High RH but very dry fuels
  • Homes to the west and north
  • Stopped at 35 acres
  • Pre-established fuel break saved at least 2 homes
  • 8 other fires have been stopped on fuel breaks

Kabash Fire

  • March 01, 2006
  • Winds - 10 - 12 mph
  • Homes to the west and north
  • Stopped at 82 acres
  • Pre-established fuel break saved at least 2 homes
  • Very heavy fuels on the ground after Katrina. State units had given up on stopping the fire (unaware of the WUI lines in place.
  • One outbuilding destroyed, one home damaged.
  • 8 other fires have been stopped on fuel breaks

  • Winds: Erratic 6 - 10 mph
  • RH in high 20’s
  • Very dry fuels
  • Stopped fire at 115 acres
  • Previous prescribed burn, in January, was used to anchor East flank.
